Insurance Claims
Insurance companies realizes that the claims process of insurance cover is of the most painful commercial experiences that the public or business can go through and will help ease you through the sometimes complicated procedures.
We advise that when you fill in a proposal form for any type of insurance you should act in a completely honest manner making all relevant details known to the insurer. Consider filling out your proposal form as the same as filling out a claim form. Insurance underwriters will void or reduce a claim if a policy holder deliberately under states values or fails to provide pertinent risk information. They are quite within their rights to do this and the small amount of money saved by a customer in omitting certain information that would increase the premium is more than offset by the pain in having a claim rejected.Insurance companies will help with all aspects of settling your claim with underwriters. Where a customer is dissatisfied with the claims procedure, they have redress to the Financial Services Ombudsman Office which deals with complaints and disputes between policyholders and their insurance companies when the company's complaints procedure fails to resolve the problem. The Financial Services Ombudsman can oppose an insurance company's decision in relation to an individual policyholder. This decision is binding only on the company, which means you may proceed with court action if you are unsatisfied with the ruling.
The Insurance Information Service (IIS) is an information and complaints telephone service operated by the Irish Insurance Federation which many insurance companies in Ireland belong to. Its purpose is to answer policyholders' questions and help them resolve problems. It has no binding powers and complaints that cannot be resolved are generally referred to the Insurance Ombudsman.Insurance companies is only too willing to answer any queries you may have about circumstance leading to claims
